    I watch and like your videos and you do a nice job with them but I have to agree with some of the other comments. I would not label the first set up as a clam shell, but OK. The bigger thing is I believe the photos should be presented in out of camera images and not edited images. I think seeing the actual lighting results is the most important thing about these demo reels. Once the image is edited a lot of important information goes out the window.

    We need specific legislation forcing these things installed “on” by default to be installed “off” by default. Until it’s specifically written in law, sadly it’s not protected. Call and write your legislators and bug them about it. The have to log the topic of every call or email to see what is “trending” with constituents. Make some noise!!! I do this often. 🎺 📢 🙌🏼

    Hey Miguel, while watching this video, I had to chuckle. You mentioned the a6700 with a few nice shots and a great model--but then you managed to skip right over it and land with the Sony a7CR & extoll the many benefits of the latter full frame compact size cam. Regarding the plethora of many overheating comments by other reviewers of the a6700, I've noticed that you seem to not have had such problems even though you are based in sunny Florida. That's amazing because one of your fellow Floridians has very distinct comments about the uselessness of the said camera due to the high temps and high humidity of that southern coastal state. So, maybe I'm wondering the best way you've found to be tactful with Japan Inc. is simply to skip over that cam as much as possible--because maybe, just maybe, later on you've also had overheating problems when trying to shoot 4K video with that said cam. My personal way to deal with that whole problem has been in regards to video in apsc format was to just go for broke--the Sony FX30. So my question deals with that, "Why not just go for the one apsc--Super 35mm Sony camera if one wants to shoot video & never have the headaches of the a6700--simply invest in the Sony FX30?" 😎😎

    • @MiguelQuilesJr
      @MiguelQuilesJr 19 днів тому

      When I originally purchased the a6700 the a7CR wasn't out. I'm a full-frame guy, so naturally when I can get an a6700-type camera with a full frame sensor then that's going to be more my fancy. As for overheating on the a6700, I use the camera as my webcam for livestreaming at my studio and have filmed several UA-cam videos and never had an issue with overheating, even in Florida. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to others, but in the time I've owned it and the many hours I've put on it, it hasn't overheated once. Its likely that others are using different settings (such as sunny monitor) that causes that to happen, but as I have used it I haven't run into the issue. As for picking the FX30 over the a6700, it's two different cameras for two different use cases. If you want a hybrid camera that has a mechanical shutter with the more advanced focus system, then a6700 is a no-brainer to me. If you want a more video-focused camera that you might occasionally use to take a photo or two and the budget allows ($500 more) then that would be a good choice. This would be an entirely separate video though, as I wasn't talking about a walk-around camera for video, hence why I didn't mention all of that. The a7CR is my walk-around camera for stills mainly, and for video whenever I don't have one of my other cameras handy. Maybe I'll make an a6700 vs FX30 video in the near future.

    Sorry about your bad luck, bad back injury etc. Get well & next time around before u make another camera rig via Sony Empire, get the FX30! Not the a6700! You certainly don't need a fake brain (AI) to push you along to help you get up the steps with the next shoot! They might even try to market the a6700 as a Walker, but I hate to tell you, it's just an overheating little monster! 😎😎

  • @gbwalther3198
    @gbwalther3198 20 днів тому

    There is no way that a cinematographer would use an a6700 over the FX30 with a camera rig, unless they were totally broke--which I doubt you are--so this video short makes absolutely no sense. Unless that is, there is some $$ somewhere under and/or above the table! Good luck trying to convince the crowd out there, otherwise! 😎😎

    You know what the funny thing is? People make it sound like every DSLR produces noisy images once you passed ISO 200. I shoot with a dinosaur, the Canon EOS 60D crop sensor DSLR, and my images are practically noiseless at ISO 800 but have shot ISO 1600 with somewhat acceptable noise levels - easily remedied by slight noise reduction - so I don't know what people go on about with most modern DSLR's and ISO. Yes, mirrorless is generally way better at ISO than most DSLR's but come on.....ISO 400 is nothing for most modern DSLR's after the early 2000's (and my Canon 60D was released in 2010).

    I think the biggest difference about the V2 was not mentioned here and that’s the macro side of the lens. For portraits I think they’re dead even unless you do some 200+% pixel peeping which is absolutely silly. The V2 compactness is negated because of its external zoom. I would trust the V1 more when it comes to weather sealing.

    I recommend the A7C with Zeiss 35mm 2.8, you will get more bokeh, less noise and 1/8000 so you can shoot wide open without an ND filter. Also the Zeiss is smaller than the 24mm, all metal and made in Japan. The downside is the A7C has a smaller grip and the EVF is not that good.

  • @sacharya5691

    Good share. The skin tones seem slightly warm . Is this the nature of the f4 lens? Same warm tones appear by default with Tamron 70-180 f2.8. Why does this happen? How do we get natural skin tones, may be usiing the f2.8? Would tweaking the white balance to get natural colours while shooting be of any help before correcting post shoot?

    After weeks of research I came to the same conclusion. Funny how I landed here hoping to find an alternative to spending $3-4k on a setup only to be led back to the same camera I want lol. Perfect for my style of shooting (heavy cropping, compact, and the option of using either ff or apsc lens is great). If I had a x100vi I’d probably just keep it because it hits a sweet spot for size/capabilities/value/style (and i need ibis/mp), but I found when traveling abroad with a x100v I don’t care about the film sims, and dont want to draw attention to a camera. When I show folks back home some far off land, I want to convey what it was like to be there, that these are real places with real people - not some nostalgia drenched cinematic film grain color filter. However, when traveling local I did enjoy the x100v film sims - it makes familiar places fun to look at again haha 😅

    I am considering a Godox TT600 speedlight which does have hss capability (when used with the right flash trigger.) Though I read one review where a photographer says that the hss for this particular flash is more suitable for backlight etc rather than the main light. Could this mean that the power output of the TT600 in hss mode is even weaker compared to other flashes that use hss? If that's the case, I might consider using ND filters instead of hss.

    Shooting outside with flash always makes me think of the wedding photographers before digital. They would be out there working with maybe a Hasselblad or a Bronica camera with a bare bulb flash on top or on a flash bracket. They flashed every shot, indoor or outside. There was no such thing as test shots but this is what they did for a living and they always came away with beautiful negatives. One time a family member tight on her wedding budget asked if I could photograph her wedding. I did not want to. I was an amateur hobbyist photographer not a wedding photographer, I was afraid of the responsibility involved. She told me she is not expecting professional photographs, just a recording of the day. I reluctantly agreed. I went to see my friend Jim who was a wonderful and very experienced wedding photographer. I asked him about setting exposures for flash outdoors. He said to me, It’s super easy. Pick the aperture you want to shoot at, say F8, now meter the outdoor scene to get your shutter speed for F8 and set your flash for the F8 range. Back then they were the auto thyristor type of flashes, similar to TTL but the great thing about them is they worked with any camera and were pretty accurate. I got my Hasselblad all ready with the 45 degree prism finder and my Sunpak J-120 flash on a flash bracket. I followed his instructions. I worked real hard that day under stress to take a collection of photographs that would record the important moments in chronological order. I used a pro lab that did work for all the pro wedding photographers in my area for processing and printing. We wound up with beautiful wedding photographs. Thirty years later I still look at them when I visit and they still look great and no one would know that an amateur took them because they turned out quite professional looking.
